  • Great American Smokeout! - Saturday, November 20, 2010


    Do you smoke and looking for help quitting?  Visit the Great American Smokeout this Saturday at Krusen Park in Zephyrhills from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  Admission is free for all ages.  While you're there you can meet with a Tobacco Treatment Specialist and sign up for:
    • Free Nicotine Patches
    • Give-a-ways and encouragement
    • Lung function tests and oral cancer screenings
    • Information about nicotine addiction and carbon monoxide levels
    In addition to learning about quitting smoking, there will also be carnvial rides, the Tampa Bay Rays Street Team, the Zephyrhills Police Athletic League, Flu Shots, and Food at the event.

    Can't make the Great American SmokeOut but still want to quit?  You can call Quitline at (877) 822-6669 for free nicotine gum, lozenges, or patches by signing up for phone counseling.    They also offer assistance in Spanish, local referrals, and self-help materials.

    The Pasco County Health Department also offers two Quit Smoking Support Groups:

  • Flu Shots in Pasco County


    The Pasco County Health Department is giving seasonal flu shots.
    Flu Shots will cost $25 payable by cash or check. With proof, Medicare clients will be given their shot for free and their insurance will be billed. For Medicare HMO and all other insurance there will be a $25 charge. Receipts will be given to file with insurance companies.
    Shots will be given at these locations:
    Dade City Clinic, 13941 15th St., (352) 521-1450. Appointments are advised. Walk-ins are accepted from 7:30 a.m. to noon Thursday
    •Hudson Clinic, 11511 Denton Ave. (727) 861-5661. Shots are by appointment only.
    •Land O' Lakes Clinic, 4135 Land O' Lakes Blvd., (813) 558-5173. Walk-ins are accepted from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and 7:30 to 10 a.m. Friday
    •New Port Richey Clinic, 10841 Little Road, (727) 861-5260, ext. 268. Shots are by appointment only.
    •Zephyrhills Clinic, 4717 Airport Road, (813) 780-0740. Walk-ins are accepted from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Wednesday is recommended. Appointments can be made.
    These shots do not prevent swine flu. For more information on the H1N1 Swine Flu call 877-352-3581 between 8 AM to 8 PM, 7 days a week. Information is available in English, Spanish and Creole.

Florida Discount Drug Card Program

If you are 60 years old or older and without prescription drug coverage or who fall into the Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage gap; or under age 60, without prescription drug coverage, and with an annual family income of less than 300% of the Federal Poverty Level you may use this program. Qualifying incomes include those below the following:


$32,490 (for an individual)

$43,710 (for a family of two)

$66,150 (for a family of four)
